The Golden Age of Interent Memes... part 3!

My fellow warriors, since someone asked in part 2 of the Golden Age of Interwebz Memes, we decided to give it another spin.

We dive deep into the old history, some of you weren't even born!

Before image macros, deep-fried memes, and AI-generated jokes, there were Rage Comics.

They appeared around 2008 on 4chan, where users began drawing crude four-panel comics in MS Paint to tell stories about everyday annoyances. The art was terrible on purpose, but the emotions were instantly recognizable.

Within a couple of years, Rage Comics had spread across Reddit and the rest of the internet, becoming one of the first truly universal meme languages.

The original Rage Guy ("FFFFFUUUU") was the face of pure frustration, perfect for those tiny disasters everyone experiences.

Soon came an entire cast of characters. Trollface, with his unmistakable smug grin, represented the joy of provoking people just to watch the chaos unfold.

Forever Alone became the internet's patron saint of loneliness, exaggerated enough to be funny but relatable enough to stick around for years.

Me Gusta, inspired by a bizarre webcomic drawing, somehow evolved into the perfect reaction for situations that were disturbing... yet strangely satisfying.

By the mid-2010s, Rage Comics had faded from the spotlight as memes evolved into faster and more surreal formats. But their DNA never disappeared. Modern reaction images, Wojaks, and countless social media memes all owe something to those rough MS Paint drawings that proved you didn't need artistic talent to make millions of people laugh.
