The Space Race Expansion would introduce a collaborative, nation-wide effort to reach Mars, unlocking exclusive research and global buffs.
Setting up the Race
A country's congress first has to pass a bill to officially enter the space race. If it passes, an election triggers for a new role called the Minister of Aerospace. This player takes charge of running the missions and getting the population on board to donate.
National Effort

Getting to Mars requires the whole country pitching in. Citizens can contribute their own resources.
Suggested Missions (Examples)
Mission 1 - Agency Foundation
Requires 1k Steel, 1k Concrete, 1k Lead, 500 Gold
Mission 2 - Biosphere Research
Requires 10k Cows, 10k Fish, 10k Grain
Mission 3 - Propulsion Tech
Requires 15k Scraps, 10k Iron, 10k Lead, 10k Limestone
Mission 4 - Payload Logistics Requires 10k Green Cases, 10k Steak, 10k Fish, 10k Light Ammo, 10k Oil
Mission 5 - Ignition (Launch Mission)

Touchdown on Mars

Once a nation finishes all 5 missions, they get to plant their flag on a brand new Mars map. Landing there unlocks a new tier of Martian Research missions, letting the country expand its occupation and reach on the planet.
The Spoils
Players need a reason to dump their hard-earned goods into this. Reaching Mars should give the entire country passive tech bonuses, like:
- Orbital Reconnaissance for better intel gathering
- Advanced Metallurgy for a slight armor buff to ground vehicles
- Tech Boom for cheaper domestic research costs
