THE POTENTIAL TO DEVELOP WAR ERA POLITICS - SA

When first arriving at WarEra, I wasn’t that familiar with the political systems. Now that I am feeling a little more confident in this area, I think I can share my thoughts. Hopefully I will get your input as well. In South Africa, we vote for a party list, Parliament chooses the President, and if a member acts out, the party leader is able to strip their parliamentary seat instantly and replace them with someone else. That is the extent to which people are exposed to government processes. Then there are the municipal elections, which are closer to the people, where service delivery is front and centre.

With WarEra, it feels similar to how things are done in the US. Parties are organised groups of voters that have the freedom to vote in any direction that they want. It is loyalty that keeps their votes aligned with party interests. Then, when it comes to voting, people vote for an individual. With my voting in the past, I just voted for whoever I felt like. This is because there was no coordination of votes from the party leadership at the time.

I think that this is an opportunity that is missed. When trying to capture power.

The number of active members in your party matters, especially those at level 15+ since they have voting rights. If hypothetically you can get all your voting members to vote in the direction you need, then you have true political power. There is the potential to negotiate with other smaller parties to form coalitions that could overthrow the larger parties – or more clearly represent your party's interests in congress. What about exchanging support for a seat in Congress by coordinating people into voting blocks? e.g. 5 votes for person A, 5 votes for person B.

Since in Congress members can propose motions, there is the potential to reduce the votes on what colour the country should be and rather. Have people vote in a way that reduces the pressure on having a sitting president have to come up with all the big ideas, but inlvove sitting members proposing motions to remove inactive members, but also enabling a space where elected officials can truly speak on behalf of their voting block.
