The Presidential Briefing #14: SnowMan (Portugal)

BogoljubFebruary 8, 2026politics

Mr. President, congratulations on your election. Could you introduce yourself to the WarEra community and describe your path to the Portuguese presidency?

I’m a https://app.warera.io/user/68a62cbd35aee16ea6f6383f who happened to be in https://app.warera.io/country/6813b6d446e731854c7ac7aa at just the right time to witness the Portuguese liberation from https://app.warera.io/country/6813b6d446e731854c7ac7a8 back in August. After that, I went on a bit of a journey to https://app.warera.io/country/6813b6d546e731854c7ac8ac and https://app.warera.io/country/6873d0ea1758b40e712b5f34, learning what it was like to control a country and start revolts purely for fun and randomness. I was part of the Portuguese Congress, later served as Vice President, then disappeared into the economy module barely playing.

After a short vacation in https://app.warera.io/country/6873d0ea1758b40e712b5f28 just to chill, I returned as Portuguese Vice President. When I saw https://app.warera.io/user/68862f3fa3685be831329ac1 interviewed as president, I realized something important: my dream in this game was to be interviewed too, so I could say random stuff. I figured the most reliable way to achieve that was simple: become president.

Jokes aside, what really matters isn’t my past, but my vision. I don’t see the president as a king. In chess, when the king dies, the game is over. In WarEra, the president is more like a queen, powerful, flexible, able to issue orders, initiate attacks, alliances, and shape the board. But even the queen exists to protect the king.

And who is the king?

For me, it comes down to the players below level 20. Keeping the “king” alive in WarEra means keeping people playing. That requires fun, and it requires relevance. Players need to feel that their country matters and that it is involved in something meaningful.

That’s how Portugal stays relevant and that relevance feeds the game itself. I don’t do this alone. Our enemies play a role in this just as much as our allies, and we play that role for them as well. https://app.warera.io/country/6813b6d446e731854c7ac7a8, https://app.warera.io/country/6813b6d546e731854c7ac858, https://app.warera.io/country/6813b6d546e731854c7ac832, https://app.warera.io/country/683ddd2c24b5a2e114af1612, the https://app.warera.io/country/6813b6d446e731854c7ac7e5 — different months, different rivals.

I want to send them all some love. Allies today, enemies tomorrow. We keep each other logging in and having fun in https://app.warera.io/user/6813b758efecdf9bab195068's game. I don’t take things personally, and I don’t hate anyone. Wherever you’re reading this from, on whichever side you’re on, let’s keep it fun.

You are taking office after a very active and visible previous administration. What priorities did you identify immediately upon assuming the presidency?

Keeping Portugal great and keeping the game fun. Fun is the most important thing.

Portugal recently held territories across multiple continents before entering a phase of consolidation. What lessons did you take from that period of rapid expansion?

Rapid expansion is fun, no doubt about it. But it also teaches you important mechanics and timing: managing priorities, understanding damage bonus variations, using bunkers and military bases effectively and most importantly, never letting the oil run out, because when it does, everything stops working.

How do you intend to balance continuity with change preserving what worked under the previous leadership while setting your own direction for Portugal?

I have my own vision, but much of it was already present in Portugal’s actions over the past three months. Portugal is not run by a president alone, it’s run by all its citizens.

Portugal has built a strong reputation as a reliable diplomatic partner. How important is diplomacy to your vision compared to military or economic power?

Both are essential. Our allies know they can trust us no matter the cost. They know we bring damage, both directly and through coordination with others. Portugal has never broken a deal, and our support for allies is second to none.

What are the biggest challenges Portugal currently faces internally, and how does your administration plan to address them?

Our biggest internal challenge is the lack of new babies.

The solution? Take the condoms away from our citizens and launch a new SexEra, starting on Valentine’s Day. Every citizen must work hard to make at least five babies.

How do you see Portugal’s role evolving within Europe and beyond, especially in a map dominated by large empires?

Portugal’s role in Europe is to build a pipeline of wine to our valuable European allies and, of course, Pastéis de Nata. Portugal is the greatest country in the world and the largest exporter of Pastéis de Nata. All other countries have inferior Pastéis de Nata.

Portugal also believes Africa deserves access to quality wine, with taps in every home. This is our Wine Road Initiative.

Leadership transitions can test national unity. How are you ensuring stability and cohesion during this change of administration?

The same way we did under the previous administration, which I was already part of. We are all for Portugal, no matter what, no matter where.

Some players believe Portugal’s strength lies in patience rather than aggression. Do you agree with that assessment, and how does it shape your strategy?

Portugal’s strength lies in its citizens and in jets with pills. There are moments that require patience, and moments that require aggression. Everyone needs to understand that there is a time for everything.

How do you view the recent escalation between Turkey and Romania?

It’s a shame. https://app.warera.io/country/6813b6d446e731854c7ac7eb were old allies of ours, and we always had a good relationship. They ended the alliance some time ago, but the last time we discussed our situation, we demonstrated that Portugal has historically been the foreign country that inflicted the most damage in defense of Turkey.

Despite this, Turkey recently chose to side with ANTI, even though we clearly showed them that they are not trustworthy and despite the fact that Turkey itself had past reasons not to trust them.

They have now attacked https://app.warera.io/country/6813b6d446e731854c7ac7b6, and since Romania is our ally, our position is clear: we fully stand by Romania.
