Saint John Gualbert – Feast Day
July 12 is the feast day of Saint John Gualbert (c. 995–1073), an Italian Benedictine monk and the founder of the Vallumbrosan Order. According to tradition, after encountering the man who had murdered his brother, John chose to forgive him instead of seeking revenge. This act of mercy inspired him to dedicate his life to God. He became known for promoting monastic reform, humility, and integrity within the Church. In 1951, Pope Pius XII declared Saint John Gualbert the patron saint of foresters and forest workers because of his order's dedication to protecting and caring for woodlands.

1806 – The First Newspaper in the Croatian Language Is Published on 12.07.1806.
The first newspaper printed in the Croatian language, Kraljski Dalmatin (Il Regio Dalmata – Kraglski Dalmatin), was published in Zadar. The bilingual newspaper marked an important milestone in Croatian journalism and the development of the Croatian written language.
