Good day my friends, since we have a lot of English speakers, I thought it prudent to translate my campaignspeech to English. Please note, that the lyrics below are kept in Swedish, but the rest of the article is in English.
"Det här är ditt land
Det här är mitt land
Från Ales stenar
Till norra Lappland
Från Bohus klippor
Till Gotlands raukar
Landet, det tillhör
Dej och mej
Med mörka skogar
Och höga furor
Med vita björkar
Och röda stugor
Med fält och åkrar
Och varv och gruvor
Landet, det tillhör
Dej och mej"
- Excerpt from "This Is Your Country" by Mikael Wiehe
The words of Mikael Wiehe are simple, but they carry a weight that is hard to ignore.
Because what does it really mean for a country to belong to us?
Does it mean that we simply live here, or that we also have a responsibility for how it develops?
I am running in this election because I believe in the latter.
That a country is not just forests, cities and roads, but the people who live here.
That politics is not about power, but about responsibility.
Responsibility to create safety, not just for some, but for everyone.
Responsibility to build a society where opportunities are not determined by where you come from.
Responsibility to stand up for what is right, even when it is difficult.
Because if this truly is your country and mine,
then we cannot leave the future to chance.
We must take responsibility for it. Together.
A vote for me is a vote for:
The road ahead is one of rebuilding.
Where we take back what was taken from us.
Where we rise together, stronger than before.
For a free, safe and united Sweden.
