Since we are currently experiencing a BabyBoom (and observing many common beginner mistakes), I’ll take this opportunity to share some tricks and pitfalls to avoid that I've learned (sometimes the hard way) from +6 months of playing.
Complete Starter missions fast
Starter missions are the fastest way to level up quickly, and level is the most critical stat in the game early on. Leveling up your skills early enables you to generate income faster and establish a stable economy sooner.
Economy skills first
Put skill points in economic skills, and NEVER use any point in ANY fighting skills (even loot chance isn't worth it unless you are running a damage build). If you have unused skill points that aren't enough to unlock a new level, keep them until you level up. To find the best way to upgrade your economy skills, you can use a dedicated tool, plenty are available (will share a list of utility tools in next article), or read this theoretical breakdown: https://app.warera.io/article/6a1a68c30bccfa02e2e0dd64
Upgrade companies in optimal order
Again, many tools are available to find whether to upgrade a company or buy another one. https://app.warera.io/article/69998fd7d87267cb1de203d7 is still a goated article, use it as cheat sheet to plan your next steps.
Set companies in the best region
Always set your companies in regions with the highest current productivity bonuses. You can check this by going more (three dots) -> move region. The game will automatically display regions with the highest bonuses, make sure your company matches the highest bonus, otherwise move it there.
Dont hire workers early
Hiring workers means you need to upgrade factory storage for them, keeping liquid currency for wages, and constantly calculating profitable pay rates. This is time-consuming and capital-intensive for new players, and you risk losing money if mismanaged. Avoid hiring until you gain more game experience.
Dont upgrade storage for companies
Since you only need storage for workers and you should NOT be hiring early on, investing in storage wastes money that could go toward higher priority economic upgrades.
Stick to grey gear
You need to build your economy first before investing in war. Plus, using higher gear is not very effective cost-wise (and damage-wise) if your points are in economic skills.
Grey Gear: Use.
Green Gear: Dismantle.
Blue Gear: Dismantle low stats; sell high stats.
Purple+ Gear: Sell.
Reroll food mission
Use your free rerolls on food missions. Since you are eco, you are just losing money eating.
Dont dismantle at 1%
I dont know if some are doing this but I did when I first started playing, but items automatically dismantle when they hit 0% durability, yielding the exact same amount of scrap. There is no need to manually dismantle items at 1%.
Dont take pills
Drugs are bad, kids. Pills are only useful when you are on damage build, but you're a new player, so no war for you :(
Explore the UI & Tooltips
On PC: Hover your cursor over keywords, emojis, and buttons to reveal tooltips that explain what they do and what specific terms mean.
On Mobile: Long-press on icons and keywords to view the same helpful tooltips.
General tip: Feel free to click around and explore every menu in the game. Just make sure not to spend anything accidentally while clicking around.
