Today I will share with you guys 5 things that happened on this day, 14th June, in the history of the world

  1. 1834: The Paper Bag Machine Patent – Inventor William Goodale was officially granted the first U.S. patent for a paper bag manufacturing machine today. The complex mechanical loom automated the tedious process of cutting, folding, and gluing heavy paper sheets, paving the industrial way for mass-produced commercial grocery sacks.

  2. 1919: The First Non-Stop Transatlantic Flight – British aviators John Alcock and Arthur Brown took off from Newfoundland today in a modified World War I bomber. Battling extreme fog, freezing rain, and a broken radio, they successfully crossed the Atlantic Ocean in 16 hours, crash-landing in an Irish bog the next day to achieve aviation history.

  3. 1951: The First Commercial Supercomputer – The U.S. Census Bureau officially dedicated UNIVAC I (Universal Automatic Computer) today. It was the first commercially produced electronic digital computer in the United States, utilizing over 5,000 vacuum tubes and weighing a massive 16,000 pounds (7,3 tons) to process complex government data.

  4. 1949: The First Primate in Space – A rhesus monkey named Albert II made history today by riding a V-2 rocket to an altitude of 83 miles (134 km), officially becoming the first mammal to cross into outer space. While the launch and atmospheric exit were perfectly successful, Albert II tragically died during the return trip when his capsule's recovery parachute suffered a mechanical failure upon impact.

  5. 1789: The 4,000-Mile Open Boat Survival – Captain William Bligh and 18 loyal crew members who had been cast adrift in a tiny 23-foot (7 meter) launch boat successfully reached the island of Timor today. They navigated over 4,100 miles (6700 km) across the open ocean with no charts and only a few days of rations, completing one of the greatest feats of survival in maritime history.
