Today I will share with you guys 5 things that happened on this day, 13th June, in the history of the world

  1. 1981: Gunshots at the Queen – During the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony in London today, a 17-year-old named Marcus Sarjeant startled the crowd by firing six blank shots directly at Queen Elizabeth II as she rode her horse down The Mall. The Queen managed to quickly bring her startled horse under control, and the teenager was instantly tackled by police.

  2. 1893: The Secret Presidential Jaw Surgery – U.S. President Grover Cleveland boarded a friend’s yacht today for a routine "vacation" that was actually a cover for secret surgery. Because a public health crisis would have caused a massive stock market panic, doctors secretly removed a cancerous tumor and a large portion of his upper jaw while the boat floated in Long Island Sound.

  3. 1983: Leaving the Solar System – NASA's unmanned space probe, Pioneer 10, made space history today by crossing the orbit of Neptune, officially becoming the first man-made object to travel beyond the major planets of our solar system and head into deep interstellar space.

  4. 1834: The First Lead Diving Suit – American inventor Leonard Norcross was granted a patent for an underwater diving suit today. The clunky apparatus used a heavy, closed lead helmet connected to a rubber dress and an air pipe running to the water's surface, paving the mechanical way for modern deep-sea exploration.

  5. 1922: The 68-Year Hiccup Attack Begins – An American stable worker named Charles Osborne started an uncontrollable bout of hiccups today after trying to weigh a 350-pound (158 kg) hog. He would go on to hiccup an estimated 435 million times continuously over the next 68 years, finally stopping out of nowhere in 1990, just eleven months before he passed away.

That's all for today! I will be posting articles like this consistently now, so please consider liking/subscribing if you like my work.
