Today I will share with you guys 5 things that happened on this day, 8th april, in the history of the world.

  1. 1820: The Venus de Milo Found – A peasant named Yorgos Kentrotas discovered the famous marble statue of Aphrodite on the island of Milos. It eventually made its way to the Louvre, becoming one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculpture in the world.

  2. 1904: The Entente Cordiale – France and the United Kingdom signed a series of agreements ending centuries of intermittent conflict. This "cordial understanding" paved the way for their alliance in World War I and World War II

  3. 1893: First College Basketball Game – The very first recorded game between two college teams took place today as Geneva College defeated the New Brighton YMCA.

  4. 2024: The Great North American Eclipse – Exactly two years ago today, a total solar eclipse swept across North America, plunging millions into daytime darkness and becoming the most-watched celestial event in history.

  5. 2014: Windows XP "Dies" – Microsoft officially ended support for Windows XP today. Despite being 13 years old at the time, it was still used by millions, forcing a massive global rush to upgrade security systems.
