Today I will share with you guys 5 things that happened on this day, 16th June, in the history of the world

  1. 1884: The First Roller Coaster Debut – The Switchback Railway officially opened to the public at Coney Island, New York today. Invented by La-Marcus Adna Thompson, the rudimentary wooden ride traveled at a staggering top speed of 6 miles per hour (10 km per hour) and required passengers to climb up a tower just to board the bench-style cars.

  2. 1960: Psycho Changes Cinema Forever – Alfred Hitchcock’s psychological horror masterpiece premiered in New York City today. To protect the film's shocking twist ending, Hitchcock instituted a strict theater policy across the country decreeing that absolutely no latecomers would be admitted into the auditorium once the movie started.

  3. 1903: The Ford Motor Company Incorporation – Henry Ford and a small group of 11 initial investors officially signed the incorporation papers to launch the Ford Motor Company in Michigan today. Starting with just $28,000 in cash, the venture completely revolutionized global manufacturing through the perfection of the industrial assembly line.

  4. 1822: The Charleston Slave Revolt Betrayal – A massive, meticulously planned uprising organized by Denmark Vesey, a free Black carpenter who had purchased his freedom with a lottery prize, was completely derailed tonight. Two house servants leaked the entire strategy to their masters, leading to immediate martial law across South Carolina and the mass arrest of the conspiracy leaders.

  5. 1922: The First Direct Presidential Broadcast – Warren G. Harding made history today by becoming the first U.S. President to have his voice transmitted over the commercial airwaves. He spoke into a primitive microphone at the dedication of a memorial for Francis Scott Key in Baltimore, with the broadcast successfully picked up by a local naval radio station.
