Whoever Sows Escalation Has No Right to Write the Victim’s Narrative

The problem is not a single diplomatic dispute; the problem lies in the accumulation of statements and articles that belittle Algeria and Algerians, with political criticism in some cases crossing the line into direct insult.

Yet Algerian reactions are treated as though they were the origin of the problem. This is neither diplomacy nor journalism; it is an attempt to rearrange the narrative after the events have already unfolded.

Tunisian provocation first → prolonged Algerian silence → followed by a campaign portraying Algeria as the one escalating the situation.

As though the first page simply disappeared the moment the second page was written.

But in both journalism and politics, memory is not optional.

The Other Face of Unity | When the Masks Fall

Algeria remained silent for a long time, not out of fear of responding, but out of respect for the Tunisian people, whose relations and bonds we value. Yet it seems that some interpreted silence as weakness, respect as helplessness, and Arab unity as a free pass for every insult.

They attack, then assume the role of the victim. They insult, then speak of brotherhood. They provide platforms to those who attack Algeria, then tremble at the first Algerian article that responds to them.

As for our “free journalist,” he has apparently discovered that freedom is very broad when the microphone is in his hands, yet extremely narrow when it passes into Algerian hands. He ignores the insults, then suddenly awakens at the first response—as though his journalistic memory operates with a single button: attacking Algeria and Algerians.

Then he demands evidence, after sleeping through the Tunisian insults and awakening only when the Algerian response arrives.

How miserable is a form of journalism that needs an enemy to prove its existence, and a slogan of “neutrality” to conceal its bias.

As for those who believe that Algeria will remain silent forever, they should correct that misconception: an Algerian may exercise patience out of respect, but he does not grant anyone the right to insult him.

Do not test a patience you mistook for weakness, and do not raise the banner of freedom only to fear the response.

You chose the microphone; we chose to use it to respond.

In the end, nothing is more ironic than “free journalism” that fears an article, and “Arab unity” that collapses before an Algerian response.

A Government Without a Project

As for the Tunisian government, it appears to have decided to manage its foreign policy with the mentality of a Facebook page: titles are mixed up, positions are assigned arbitrarily, and everyone is then expected to treat this improvisation seriously.

How does a foreign minister become an “ambassador,” as though diplomatic positions were simply boxes to be filled in on an online form?

It seems their diplomatic dictionary is in urgent need of an update. Between confusing diplomatic positions, supporting hostile voices, and attempts to create unrest against Algeria, the picture becomes increasingly clear: diplomatic failure concealed by noise, and political failure concealed by provocation.

When diplomacy turns into improvisation, do not be surprised when the minister becomes an ambassador, the ambassador becomes a minister, and failure becomes an achievement to be celebrated, dear reader.

The Sanctity of the Martyrs

Allah Almighty says :

( And do not transgress Indeed Allah does not like the transgressors )

Whoever insults the martyrs of another people has crossed the boundaries of legitimate dispute

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said :

( The believer is neither one who insults, nor one who curses, nor one who is obscene or vulgar )

Let those who turn the martyrs into subjects of insults fear Allah; disputes eventually end, but the consequences of words remain.

We may disagree with whomever we wish and confront those who attack us, but we do not sell our principles for a cheap victory.

Conclusion | By the Author

I do not borrow the voice of authority, nor do I hide behind a crowd; this is my pen, and I bear full responsibility for what I write.

I have placed the questions where they belong and allowed the facts to speak as far as they have appeared before me. Whoever has an answer should present it, for articles are not defeated by shouting, nor buried by attacking their authors.

If there is falsehood in my words, evidence is enough to refute it. And if there is truth in them, a thousand campaigns of denial will not erase it.

As for me, I ask neither silence nor acknowledgment from my opponents; I ask only that they rise to the level required for a proper response.

True dignity does not lie in having the last word, but in having a word your opponent cannot bring down.

And here, I lay my pen aside.

The article is now before you... Either answer it, or let your silence explain itself.

The people of Algeria are Muslim, and to Arabness they belong.

Whoever says they have strayed from their origin, or that it has died, has surely lied.

Whoever seeks to erase that identity seeks the impossible.

O youth, you are our hope, and through you the dawn has drawn near.

Take up the weapons of life, face its trials, and do not fear.

Raise the banner of justice and goodness, and stand against those who oppress.

Uproot the roots of the traitors, for from them comes all corruption.

Make the souls of the oppressors taste a poison mingled with dread.

Stir the souls of the rigid and unmoved; perhaps even wood may come alive.

Whoever seeks our friendship shall find dignity and generosity.

But whoever seeks our humiliation shall face disgrace and war.

This is our way of life, written with light and flame.

Until our people regain what they have lost of their glory.

This is my pledge to you, until I am laid beneath the earth.

And when I am gone, my cry shall be: Long live Algeria and the Arabs!
