My last words there. R.I.P
I have to make an exception and write one more article about the most recent update. I certainly didn't expect things to get even worse after the update went live.
This time, I will address the staff's communication and the patch changes together.
Poll manipulation accusation
Let's start with the poll that was attached to the patch announcement on Discord. Since players only had 4 hours to react to such a massive update and cast their votes, I took the liberty of pinging the community—those who are passionate about the game and care about its future. Who would have guessed that this action would be used to attack me and all the players who cast their votes?
One of the moderators forwarded my call-to-vote to Vatou and accused me of manipulating the poll.
Firstly, I wish I actually possessed such power and support to single-handedly achieve change in this game. In reality, only 4 people I managed to reach with that message reacted in time to cast their vote—and one of them even voted in favor of the update.
Secondly, it is completely disrespectful to everyone who voted, as it undermines their own ability to judge the game. I am sincerely sorry to anyone who cast their vote after seeing my call. It proves once again that our opinion is not welcome at all, and anyone who opposes the changes is automatically labeled as unwanted.
Thirdly, mods and council members also participated in the voting, but apparently, that's perfectly fine.
Mechanic that was changed 3 times
Nevertheless, nobody cared about the poll anyway. The update still pushed through with all the flaws we pointed out during the Discord discussion, which I tried to quickly summarize in my previous article before it went live.
Fortunately, that same night, the product manager Rockseller came to Discord, ready to answer our concerns regarding the game update and explain some of the mechanics.
The question remained unanswered by Vatou (probably didn't even know at that exact moment). After several times of repeating the question, it was eventually answered by the council member:
But, unsurprisingly, the update turned out differently again and scaled from core (
initial, in old terminology) development:
So, it was changed to average, as expected and presented in the previous discussion.
However, the very next day, it was suddenly changed back, and the previous state denied by the product manager.
Other reported bugs
We have reported many other bugs. Here are a few examples without further comment:
Patch log made by AI
According to messages from council members and Vatou, most of these should have been fixed by now. I won't judge the logic of the update's final state, because I have already wasted hours of my time due to the laziness and disrespect shown to the community when Vatou issued the initial patch log—which was made by AI and obviously wasn't checked by anyone and contained mistakes.
