WarEra Journal - Running a Country in WarEra: The Poland’s Experience

KoivuMay 14, 2026news

All nations in WarEra are more than just a flag, a map, or a collection of stats.
Behind each one of these countries stands real people—players who build systems, negotiate alliances, argue over laws, and try to shape a digital society that feels alive.

When you talk to them, you quickly realize that these virtual governments aren’t just game mechanics; they’re reflections of creativity, frustration, ambition, and community.

That’s why I felt inspired to bring you all a series of interviews with countries willing to share their take on governance and show a glimpse into their society.

Today we are with https://app.warera.io/user/687912a4d9a724cd87e5c111 and https://app.warera.io/country/6813b6d446e731854c7ac7ae

1. Government Structure & Philosophy

Understanding the architecture

● What core principles guided you when designing the governmental structure of Poland in WarEra?

I’d say it is pragmatical alignment with the needs of the game + experience of the oldest players. Others see it is efficient so they follow that and support it in the way they feel can contribute. The most important is people activity and how people want and like to play the game.

● In your opinion how closely does the system mirror real-world Polish governance, and if you diverge, where?

I’d say it is nowhere close as it is IRL, where politics are the most despised occupation of people in Poland. The one of the most famous and very respected military and political historical Polish figures said it to the point: for the context – it is about people in power / political class in Poland – „Kraj piękny, tylko ludzie kurwy.”,

which literally translates into something like:
„Country - beautiful, just people are whores.”

I think in-game gov is respected for the effort they put into managing our country and because they do it pretty well. We are respected as a country through the actions of our gov, but also individual players.

It follows more for the needs of the game + creativity of the people that plays and how they want to play the game, and how much time and effort they can put in the game. So we leverage this and give opportunities, show to the players what options we have and what benefits and kind of fun it might bring to them. We try to „fish” new and active players and introduce them to more involved aspects of the game if they want, that are somehow related with what they show interest of in the game.

● What problems or inefficiencies in other systems were you trying to avoid?

The one I recall recently was flow of information + managing the NAP’s, no-conflict, who we can hit and who not, to not worsen the relations with the ones with who we want to maintain balanced approach. It is difficult to manage that among mid-level commanders and eveh people higher in the gov because of literally few dozens of country relations we manage. We also have some difficulties with „foreign bodies” in our country that we struggle a bit, but it also has became a part of internal meme and our internal lore that we follow and try to play along ;)

● Do you try to balance realism with playability?

I’d say it is always up to the players. Gov nor our „Senior staff” has nothing to say in the end how individual players want to play. In the end it is for fun :) The more important decisions are made and discussed meritorically and we try to be constructive + used via the official gov bodies / hierarchy in the game (CP, VP, MoD, MoE, MoFA, Congressmen + Senior staff). Some players which are in opposition were more or less constructive, but if they don’t fit the majority, usually they are just leaving the game sooner or later.

Institutional design

● What are the key institutions in the government, and how do they interact?

Discord is the main coordination venue. We have some emergency redundancy comms channels via the game chats i.e. for MU (attack coordination) and among Senior Staff + sometimes for foreign relations. Beside official in-game gov bodies, which are reflected on our Discord, we have „Senior Staff”, which have visibility into what is happening in all the embassies and practically in all channels in our whole Discord. We have „Foreign missions” area for our trusted people abroad, and established embassies (few dozens of them, not all maintained by foreign ambassadeours) for contacts with other countries and few dedicated alliances chats. We practically have some of our senior staff who maintains relations with bigger countries (they are PL ambassadeurs at other major countries), which also goes with a bit of redundancies. So we’d say that our MoFA is practically split and distributed among many senior players to improve coordination and maintaining relations, as people network connections are very important when they are established and people remember and trust each other and know what and how they can depend on. We have people interested in eco-matters who discuss new approaches, We have area for beginners and in general to experience knowledge about the game, efficient builds, etc.

● Are there any internal mechanisms beside game mechanics to prevent power concentration or political stagnation?

No, I think we are just gradually building trust toward each other and that just somehow works. We try to introduce fresh blood to the senior staff gradually, as there is always plenty to do, so if people want to be more involved, why not to let them and use their time and effort for something productive? If you’re creative and share some ideas, it is being constructively reviewed and suggested by other senior players what they think about the new idea and I have a feeling that we try to be supportive for those new initiatives - that was definitely in my (Greg_Rarog) case.

● How do you ensure transparency and accountability within the system?

I think people in senior staff are just responsible and trusted with the power that is being given to them via elections. Also other players from other countries in the game respect only official gov bodies, and provide enough systems to track what is happening. Communication is the key. I.e. when I was MoE, I had idea on how to use the budget, we discussed and senior staff gave me the chance to manage part of the budget for my initiative: we agreed on on how to split and manage the budget for military vs economic initiatives to make the game interesting also not only for warriors, but also for players who want to focus more on Eco aspects of the game and provide us also insurance and necessary experience to be efficient and for Eco/MoE to really support the country. Other than that, game provides enough logs for tracking stuff in case of need for any „audit” + there are some external tools which help to analyse, track it + we have our own internal API based analytics that were useful in some cases to give us „intelligence” advantage for decision making on different operations we were planning, to make informed decisions.

2. Functioning of the Government

Day-to-day operations

● What does a typical “government day” look like for Poland?

Me? I’m in Uzbek prison since almost a month, as I decided to RP a bit too much xD I think the biggest and the most time consuming aspect of the game are international politics. I do review of embassies, try to do summary of important things I see there that might require attention/discussion and decision from others on our internal „Staff” channel. People in CP, VP, MoD, MoE set bounties, orders through the day. We react what is happening in the game and analyse it in our „Staff” chat or other tematic chats (as above). If people have some ideas, they just go for it and try to keep others informed or bring relevant information they have found in their areas of expertise to the others. It somehow works very organically and pretty well.

● Which ministries are the most active, and why?

CP definitely is the most demanding position in terms of time spent and responsibilities for the decisions. All ultimate decision making in cases of doubts are made by CP. Also ultimate responsibility of what is happening and how our country is seen in the game is on CP.

I think it also comes to people IRL vs game activity and time they can spend and afford. I.e. I had some more free time earlier, so I got involved as MoE, even though I was proposed even VP position, but I tried to keep it slow. CP, VP and MoD, and MoE to some extent also coordinate orders / bounties and distribute them among command chain through our channels to commanders and players. There are some players which are just interested in eco things.

● How do you coordinate communication between ministries, Congress, and the military units?

The most of the communication between „Senior Staff” is happening on one Discord channel. Congressmen are called for voting whenever there is some initiative – in most cases it is pre-discussed, and in-game implementation is just a formality. MU just follows orders from VP, CP, MoD accortding to relations that we try to maintain (and recently – document, to have reference point)

Law-making & decision-making

● How does the legislative process work from proposal to implementation?

Usually initiative is being proposed among players – either on the lower level and then brought to Staff if it is relevant, then discussed in Discord. If the case is urgent, then sometimes the initiative is dropped directly in the game and each congressman is deciding according to their own judgement and info they have. I remember, when I was just joining the gov as congressman (and not on Discord yet then), very often I was asking other players (or initiators of the law) for the context of the law, to make more informed decision.

● What types of laws have/had the biggest impact on the nation’s development?

Income tax from budget perspective. Alliances are very important, because they show our alignment in the game. Those are the two most important ones that comes to my mind.

● How do you handle disagreements or political deadlock?

Meritoric discussion with respect toward each other. If we cannot get to consensus, then higher body makes the final decision. Sometimes it is left to congressman to make their judgement basing on available information and the discussion they might have seen.

Diplomacy & alliances

● What is the diplomatic philosophy of Poland in WarEra?

One of the main principles is trying to avoid conflicts close to our borders and try to maintain the best relations as we can with our neighbors. We sometimes try to even mediate between the other neighbours to stabilize the situation and avoid the hot spots near our borders.

Other than that – in general try to maintain positive relations, be respectful. I think only towards one enemy we have no respect (in political terms – because in military, we still need to) and I think it is obvious which country it is ;) So we try to maintain positive relations, especially when it is in benefit for us or it might work for mutual benefit. If that doesn’t work, in the areas we might feel some risk, we try to mitigate it by establishing NAPs. If that fails, the war and military is ultimate solution. This doesn’t mean, that sometimes we do not fight because of honour of because someone stomped on our toe, and we just want to show that we won’t treat it lightly.

● How do embassy channels influence foreign policy?

They are key for maintaining relations and establish common interests – be it politically, economically or from military perspective. Sometimes it evolves into „bigger” bodies - Alliances where multiple embassied / gov bodies are participating in the discussion.

● Can you describe a moment when diplomacy significantly changed the nation’s trajectory?

trajectory? The one that first came to my mind was CULO vs PABLO war shift later – we distanced ourselves from Venezuela & RSVP – this was very important one I’d say, even though we try to be respectful to Venezuela (and I feel it is vice-versa) due to „old times sake” - those old maintained very strong individual relationships that stay even for longer than whole country relationships. I think it is also due to the fact that people in the power also change from time to time, so that reflects country politics. I’d say that you should expect some strong changes with major changes in gov positions representation :)

Such things usually happens due to such major in-game alliance shifts. I think it also might have happened earlier to some extent, but I don’t have good memory of that.

3. Military & Strategic Governance

Defense structure

● How is the Polish military organized, and what makes it unique?

Power to the people! We recognize that individual development is very important and try to guide players according to our best knowledge for them to be most efficient, but also to support their play style (esp. eco/hybrid/warrior style of play). I described above a bit of responsibilities regarding orders, so I’ll cover here different aspect – periods / time perspective. Basing on our vast diplomatic contacts nad different intelligence sources we try to predict major conflicts and guide and inform our players to switch into eco/warrior mode. I think a lot of it also comes from experience of the oldest players and their feeling, but also pieces of intelligence gathering puzzles from different sources gives us unique opportunity to have that forward looking possibility to predict what might happen when and we try to keep our people informed - to the extent they need to know and according to how precise our information and estimates are.

● What role does the government play in coordinating military units during wartime?

It is the key. Players are instructed and thought on „keeping the limits”. During war time, for important battles and bounty coordination we have communication, to make it most efficient both for our Staff people as well as our commanders / warriors.

● How do you balance military priorities of players with economic ones ?

I think there is an understanding, that eco is just a preparation for war, so we try to give our players to do some savings for equipment and to prepare to war. If some people want to fight even despite no major conflicts, we try to guide them where they can hit i.e. to support our allies. If players want to try some other and more independent approach, we have „foreign missions”. Usually those missions grow into really independent countries, with which we just maintain very strong relationships, which we try to support, and they are supporting our country through their help. I’d say that usually what most people would call „proxies”, are really growing in time into independently managed countries with their own politics, according to their size / scale. This is symbiotic and very organic relationship, which can be leveraged i.e. in difficult alliance position, but while such proxy still have some independence and i.e. military power to show some necessary force and influence from the Polish Diaspora.

Geopolitical strategy

● What is Poland's long-term strategic vision in the WarEra world?

BB is the meta in the game. We try to grow, and when we do we usually try to do it with quality, because we don’t have power in the numbers (yet). Concrete is our meme- strategic resource which is also being laughed because of real estate market being inflated in PL IRL, so I think we want to keep it as a meme-symbol of our industry. Earlier described diplomatic policy is the key, to avoid squeezing too much into our bumpers, explaining our policy and approach toward people which are going into direction that we don’t like (especially supporting our nemesis).

● How do you prepare for large-scale conflicts or regional instability?

Intelligence gathering, maintaining and trying to influence things via diplomatic channels. Individual eco-player preparation and communication towards our allies and players with resources preparation necessary for the war.

4. Society & Everyday Life of Citizens

Social structure

● How would you describe the “Polish identity” within WarEra?

Poles are we are very „politically incorrect”, especially comparing to what is considered the norm in the WarEra community (but not among all the countries). We have our internal memes and jokes that sometimes refer to IRL stereotypes or just typical meme-sphere in Poland. I’d say it is a lot of fun and making jokes – actually it is not only in Poland, but I think it is also this game spirit. The fact that it has its own lore, history, memes – this is really valuable for the community to feel the depth of the game and get more involved into it.

● What expectations do citizens have of their government?

Huh, I guess this question should be more for the citizens? I think be reasonable, but also make fun? We had some crazy ideas inside, comparable to LATAM countries self-wipes, but I’d say we don’t have such big balls (yet), even though it was close at one point :) I think listening to the active players and not clipping the wings but rather leveraging active players is the most important value of our Staff – and I think it is being seen by the players and appreciated. Everyone has their own playstyle, corner of specialization area, thier avatars identities relating to PL meme-sphere. Maintaining respecting that among the players, not only

● How do new players integrate into Polish society?

I hope they do well, but as in the whole game, retention is pretty difficult. I think this is mostly due to players being more engaged and active on Discord, and not many new players get that engaged to login and participate on our game Discord. I think usually when they join there, they are staying for longer – I can recall only few exceptions from that rule – people who left the game which were on the Discord, but they had opposing views from majority of the PL Senior Staff. We try to support new players and I think when they feel that support and activity in the game, they are also getting more involved in the game to the extent they really want to.

Economy & work life

● What industries or economic activities define everyday life for Polish citizens?

As already mentioned earlier, Concrete is our national treasure :D We try to guide our players to start become self sufficient, get passive income and support their playstyle – i.e. it will be different for focused Eco player, which want to grow their factories, or to invest in food ammo if they want to start fight earlier. We try to give and share tips on what to trade and when, especially when we see some trends on the market or we define those trends ourselves ;> Other then that it is typical grind and churn – work: how, where, for how much, when to quit – there are some individual decisions, when done on scale have influence on macroeconomic success of a country, and those are not very widely known among the WarEra players. We don’t always explain the details of this secret sauce, but give individual instructions to the players which helps to build that macroeconomic strength.

● How does the government support entrepreneurship, workers, and new companies?

First is building individual knowledge and understanding for the mechanics of the game. It is important for the players, that this game is a marathon, not a sprint. We have our famous „Eagle 94” (see one of my Museum articles about him) which made it in his own way, got frustrated and left the game. We honour his memory – see my article for more info about this Polish lore figure. Other than that, as MoE I have spawned few economic initiatives which helped our players to grow their wealth and become even more efficient, but I don’t want to spoil too much secret about it :)

● What economic challenges do citizens face most often?

I think it is about the understanding of the game style. Obviously passive income to get enough for sustainable fight and understanding and perception of influence and involvement in bigger scale is important. People see individual fighters contributing xM dmg and they want to become such superheroes, but not everyone sees how much effort it required to get there – save money for the red equipment through numerous weeks of grind and churn to save for it.

Culture & community

● What do you think makes the Polish community unique compared to other nations?

I don’t know if we are so unique. It’s like... every other culture is unique and it’s just it. One of my IRL Argentinian friends said: „culture is eating processes for breakfast”. So it is where we came from, what IRL background we have and what understanding of our IRL history, relations, but also historical understanding of the WarEra history and game. The say that the latter isn’t unique for PL players, so I guess it just needs to be culture thing and where we are really coming from, what values we represent and how we really are IRL.

● How do social norms or traditions shape political and military behavior?

I’d say our IRL history and tradition, but also our most recent history reflects to quite big extent our main military targets and how we look on things even in the game.

● Are there any cultural rituals, memes, or inside jokes that define the community?

Sure, Pope John Paul 2nd and number 2137 (if you don’t know it – I encourage you to do some research on it (; ) - it is definitely one but not only one example :) But in general laugh from celebrities, politicians (i.e. I started to write Market bot watch which has name of our National Bank CEO) are the true spirit of who we are among ourselves, especially on our Discord.

5. Challenges, Innovations & Future Vision'

System evolution

● What parts of the governmental system have changed the most since its creation?

I think we try to follow what games brings. When you will look at political parties and number of members, you will see though that we are pretty homogenous and stable inside, so I don’t think I can say much here. I think the constant thing is the number of embassies, which only grows :) It makes managing it a bit difficult, but also tells us that we are respected in the game.

● What were the biggest challenges in designing or maintaining the system?

My feeling is the scalability and number of active people who want to get involved. Maintaining those multiple country relations is becoming difficult in my opinion. We try to prioritise, but we also try to respect everyone to the extent we can support everyone who want to be friendly with us.

● Are there any reforms or innovations you’re planning for the future?

I personally had some more crazy ideas regarding RP in the game (which is also reflected, that I’m in UZ, not PL (: ), not necessary in the country. I try to encourage younger but active players to get more involved and start to bring new ideas to the table, because it is always refreshing to get some new fresh set of eyes on what is happening.

I don’t have anything specific in mind yet that would be major – I try to stick in MoE area, and try to grew few mid-level players up to the task to take that responsibility later, so I can also try new things in other areas that this game brings. I think that also fosters growth and importance / relationships not only internally, but internationally, when we can send people abroad and establish new level of relationships with other players.

Long-term vision

● Where do you see Poland in WarEra five months from now?

Hopefully still on the map! xD

● What do you hope your governmental architecture will inspire in other nations?

Honestly I don’t know! I think importance of diplomatic relationships might be informative. I know some countries have some internal conflicts and their government playstyle is really „flat” comparing to what the game and community actually provides you – it is exactly what people say about the „meta” of the game. It really get as complicated and involved as you want, and I think it might teach you a lot of how this kind of relationships work IRL.

I cannot wait to actually see responses for those questions from other countries. I.e. when I have found how formal India was with their governance (They have their own Constitution in the game!!!) I was really impressed, so getting more insight on how they do it internally will be very interesting.

I would be also interested on how major local powers / our neighbors are doing stuff. I.e. I’m personally very interested into view on economy aspects from Turkiye, but I’m afraid that similarily like me, they don’t want to spoil too much of their secret sauce :)
