As you know I usually leave the data to speak for itself, and each person it's own interpretation, but I want to break the rules today and leave some comments.
This update has destroyed War and Economy in one go and there are several things that in my opinion are not economically sound.
First it ties Quantity Easing to Productivity in an inverse way which might be hard to stop. In regular economies salaries are injected back in the economy, and the ones that are not will still be coin invested in savings. Removing coin through the salaries is just unheard of, and very dangerous because the more productive you are the less coin will exist in the system.
Inflation often is a good thing, a quick fix for this update would be to just tight the development income to the coin sink. This of course would make taxes drop to 0% but would stop the sinkage which is probably double than what needed to be, and bring dev income higher which is probably 10x lower than it needed to be.
Second, we have removed in a single strike the two most interesting mechanics of this game, the reasons for War and Diplomacy (the SRs collection was pretty cool) and the market offer variability. I don't know why we felt moving companies around was bad (it was certainly not realistic), but the current form of the workers is in no way a match for what we had before.
Third, (and here I dabble a little bit outside the economy), we have replaced a deterministic and player led economy to become a RNG, sole NPC interaction economy. So I am not against the NPCs, but we need to somehow make players matter, and countries matter, and diplomacy matter. Maybe countries can give their workers different traits, by means of policy, or players can exchange player enhancement cards, or whatever you want, but please, let's get back to a community game and drop any single player mechanics.
Until Vatou fixes this build somehow, I recommend anyone either not to interact with the market, because that's what recessions do, and if you interact, make sure you have no stock, as stock will constantly lower value until quantitative easing is stopped (meaning the removal of money from the game). Stock as much money as you can. Not sure if going eco is the solution because that just aggravates your situation as you will have more goods to sell and the prices will continue to drop. From what I see, continue playing normal, reduce stock and wait for the fix.
